iMAL is a space for artistic practices around the creative and critical use of new technologies. iMAL connects a community of artists, thinkers, makers and citizens from Belgium and abroad and offers a completely renewed infrastructure to support a program focussing on research, production and presentation. Through consistent and repetitive use as a signature device and design element in all of iMAL's visual communications, the logotype becomes a visual shorthand which embodies the various activities of the institute.

IMAL is an Art Center hosting exhibitions, conferences and performances around arts & cultures in a digital world but also a reflection center focused on research and debates around the critical issues of our technological society. Their creative Fablab encourages social inclusion and innovation towards a more sustainable development. With their educational program, they aim to empower our community and to inspire the next generation to participate in digital culture. Within the new visual identity of iMal, the different departments receive an equal place and are represented by a symbol and a color code. The identity aims to play around freely with these elements, implementing a set structure to organize a space or the field of view by using basic elements like dots, lines and shapes, but leaving room to confirm or distort that structure, making it more present or almost disappear.
